Global Fires

My Times

Dee Long, my partner in ESP Studios and Studio 5 at the old AIR Studios, and the person who taught me more about music and recording and life than anyone else I've ever known, is finally releasing some of his own songs on CD.
Since Klaatu all but broke up (except for "Woman" in the later 80's) in 1981 after Magenta Lane, Dee continued to write and record some very cool music that's been put together for release on Bullseye Records. - Where's Dinosoars Outside?
Dee's music is very interesting. He is a brilliant writer, guitarist, keyboardist, programmer, singer, engineer and producer!
Make sure you check it out...Dee had a huge hand in Shelter on Duran Durans Wedding Album.

This week we bring you the first Stephen Ferrone News Update:
Stephen Ferrone just got back from Europe, he was there doing a promotional tour with Brian May (formerly of Queen) for his new album Another World, for which he played drums on the title track. He had a fun time playing with Spike Edney (Keys), Neil Murrey (Bass) and Jamie Moses (Guit). They played in Belgium, France, Spain, Italy & England. A very interesting 45-minute set in the style of unplugged with a little more umph! Regrettably Steve will not be touring with Brian this winter, as he is scheduled to finish the up-coming new Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers album.

Steve says.... Check this out! http://www.ohmygoodness.com/Images/anim1.gif

I found this Alan Frew Interview from last December over at 80's Hades Seance.
It's very low level in content, but we only hear about Alan on those TV ad's for 80's albums with Don't Forget Me When I'm Gone on them...so it's nice to see someone out there heard Hold On!

Lizard Kings Duran Duran News has moved servers. There's some nice updates on the bands dinner with Charles Spencer and a clip of their show at Althorp House for Diana's Tribute Concert.

I wanted to see if there were any satellite pictue of the fires in Florida on the web. The news that people are smelling the smoke in Miami means it's got to be a bad bunch of fire's.
The Fire Monitoring by Satellite website has been set up by NASA to help to explain and educate us about the costly fires that are ravaging our planet.

This animation of Global Fires over a 2 year period in 1992-93 is frightening.
And today we're burning more than then!

They also have a research map that shows where fires are likely to start easily...

The future is not looking very bright for Mother Earth in the next Century.

"The world risks losing all its productive land to desertification in less than 200 years if the present annual loss of 27 million hectares (66.7 million acres) continues."
