The last couple of weeks have been very busy getting the new rooms at Drumroll into shape.

The first test came when Sean arrived with a load of mic's and his lovely baffles to record a bit of Steve and see where we were at with the acoustics and the electronics. Other than finding out we needed a lot more sound deadening and a headphone setup for Steve we were nearly there!

A couple of days later and I was engineering while Steve played drums with Abe Laboriel on bass for Dove and Nils. We made it! In 2 weeks!

The next recording was putting real drums on the music from the soundtrack to Ipola, Life is Our Language, and doing a quick mix on the Pro Tools HD rig. OS X and PT 6 have been flawless from the get go. And the Control 24 is just the bees knees full stop!

 With Steve now in Chicago with the Heartbreakers I continued working on the rooms and the equipment to be ready for our first full band tracking session for Emily last Friday where I recorded Ralph; Drums, Geoff; Bass, Marcus; Guitar and Emily on piano and vocal tracking songs for a new Emily Richards album.
Sean is producing half a dozen tracks as well...

 Now we know we have a place where we can record music with other musicians playing together. After 20 years of relying mostly on computers rather than people, I can't wait to rediscover the higher human mental state of Jamming!

I continue to doubt the ability of our elected governments to make our world a better place. If there is going to be law then it should be the same for everyone. Until then the voices of desperate fellow human beings will continue to ring through the hollow mist of financial necessity and nationalistic indifference. As I have said many times, I can't believe it is 2003 and we are still killing each other for money!
