My Times

It's become un-cool to get rich on the Internet!

Then again, it's become cool to put people down who have!
At least that seems to be the flavour of the moment.
But where would we be without Netscape?

Unlike the current crop of newspapers and magazines that only seem to be interested in the rich and famous, my site of the week for this week is about Notable Citizens of Planet Earth.
And not many of them are the new kids on the Internet block or the owners of the above mentioned publications!

Happy Birthday Stuart Breed. Thanks for all your great work!

Well Alanis is now the biggest selling female artist of all time!

As hard as that is to believe, you have to admit that her album is pretty bloody good!
She really grew into a fine artist in the last year before her latest album was released.
I wonder how many of you ever heard what she was doing before now?
This of course should give great hope to all of us! People can grow no matter how far off track they seem to have been in the past.

Next time you see a band in a club or at a festival, remember that the next time you see them they might actually get it together!
And this goes especially for anyone that remembers the music I was making 15 years ago!

Treading Water

No matter where you live in the world, you can't help but notice that there is an election going on in America. An election for the President.
Unfortunately the only two candidates who are ever mentioned in the media are Bob Dole and Bill Clinton.
You may have heard about Ross Perot not even being invited to the Presidential debates.

In a non democratic country this would be fine. But in America it seems awfully wrong.
Are there other candidates running for President you may ask?
Of course. But they're not part of the club that feeds from the public trough.
They are people with real ideas for changing the worlds largest consumer economy.
That's why you don't hear about them!

Now if I were going to choose from the two candidates that anyone has heard about, I'd be wondering what sort of record these fellows have?
Well, Bill Clinton has been President for the past 4 years and the country as a whole appears to be better off. And that is his platform.

Not that he hasn't had problems. His relationships with dubious personalities in Arkansas have been dogging him throughout his Presidency.
The questions about his involvement with the Iran Contra Guns and Drugs scandal somehow seem to be ignored.
You may not know that his chief of staff went to prison for allowing the CIA to use the private airport of the Governor of Arkansas for the now infamous flights between the Contras and the Gun and Drug dealers of the USA.

But the real question must be whether this would make him a bad President?
Apparently not!

The press and the Republican party seem to be able to avoid the whole issue!

Bob Dole on the other hand, has been a career long legislator, devoted to the real battles in the political trenches.
Other than him being older than Moses, his main problem is that he belongs to the Republican party. And their problem's were Ronald Reagan and Richard Nixon.
They're looked upon as the white party. The South African party if you like.

This would seem to be an advantage in a country that is still predominately white European in origin. African Americans only make up 14 percent of the population.
In fact, 65 percent of college aged black American males are in prison. That might be going against them!

I'd like to know what happened to the people that stopped the Vietnam War?
Where has the concern and anger about the future gone?

I guess it makes sense since only 40 percent of the US voting public will even vote in this coming election, and half of them will vote the way their parents did in the 50's and 60's.
Are these the children of peace and love? The one's who fought for their right to wear Jeans in school? The one's who can remember being sent home for wearing a T-shirt?
What happened to that passion for truth and justice?

I guess the need for 60 to 100 million dollars to run for election might have something to do with the problem!

I might as well go the whole hog and tell you what I would do if I were King of America!
First I would admit that having a military budget that is more than the rest of the world combined might be a little bit of overkill.
Especially since the so-called Great Satan is now our great Capitalist buddy, filled with crime and poverty,
If there is anywhere to cut, that is the place.
The current budget deficit could be killed by cutting the military budget in half in one fiscal period alone.
That would be easy if 60 percent of the American Gross National Product was not dependent on the taxes paid by the poorer 90 percent of the American public!

But then that would be too easy.
And if it ever happened, how would companies like Boeing ever be able to afford to design a new airplane to transport the 600 plus people they want to fit in their next generation planes?

I wish I could vote!
God Bless America!
