But Not for Golfing
I could never have said it better! The Dangerous Truth of our times.
Is there a connection here? Human Rights Silence in Saudi Arabia.
One of
the fascinating things about Golf that makes it so different from other games
is that there are no Umpires.
While Rules Officials do travel with the golfers on the PGA Tour they
are not there to call penalties on the players but merely to be knowledgeable
about the Rules of Golf. Golfer's must penalize themselves and are 100% responsible
for their or their Caddie's actions during a tournament. If the golfer has
broken a Rule or a Procedure they must mark their scorecard accordingly. A
mistake is Disqualification. A penalty is a higher score which must be recorded
before the card is signed and handed in.
When playing without Television or Rules Officials the players complete honesty is demanded in recording their scores and adding on Penalty Strokes.
This
differs greatly from Football or Baseball or Basketball or Tennis where the
players are forced by the rules to push those rules to the limit in order
to score the maximum and Penalized by the Referee's for breaking them.
Which sounds a lot like our World except we have the power to change the rules
of the game to make it easier to score.
If we have enough money.
Wouldn't it be an awesome world if we played it by the Rules
of Golf ? (not literally! :)
