I think I'm starting to like Oasis.
Well, I must say I'm very happy that Celine is number 1 on the Billboard singles chart!
I'm hoping the album gets close to the top this week!
Of course I'm biased. But I think the best song, and the coolest production on the album is Seduces Me!
Fortunately so do most of my friends!
Politics
I watched Manufacturing Consent on US public television on Saturday night. Noam Chomsky was trying to explain the difference between supporting a persons right to Freedom of Speech and supporting the ideas that such a freedom allows to be heard.
The example he used was about a mentally challenged imbisile who was being charged with crimes in Germany, for his views on the existence of the Holocaust during the 30's and 40's.
Chomsky signed a petition and was quoted in the preface of the idiots book, backing a human beings RIGHT to Freedom of Speech. Not supporting the fellows mental shortcomings!
In fact Noam seemed to find it distasteful even to have to state his personal views to the press in order to justify his support for the mans thesis about the Holocaust.
In fact he said it's impossible to defend oneself from an accusation like Noam Chomsky believes there never was a Holocaust, because he supported another human beings RIGHT to say whatever he wants to say in a book or on the television or anywhere on gods earth that he wants to say it!.
According to the press themselves, If you can't say it in two short statements inbetween the commercials, then you're not good TV
Which means that our opinions are not accepted in our society?
Motor Racing
I found the Indy car race from Brazil a very frightening experience.
Seeing Mark Blundell cream the wall at turn one at 180 mph made me very nervous through the rest of the laps.
I can understand having walls around an oval track when you don't have to brake. But in Brazil they were downshifting 3 and 4 gears from 205 mph to 100 mph every lap. Mark was the only one to loose his brakes. He was very lucky not to loose his life.
How long will it take the
Indy Car organizers to realise why the Formula One governing body has been making the tracks provide run-off area wherever a mechanical failure would likely cause severe injuries or death?
Todays coverage of Motor Racing is big enough that a couple of major accidents will have an overwhelming effect on the publics appetite for sponsers who support death.
Was this just all about cigarettes?
