John, Richard,Bob and Jeremy at the Mix LA Open

My Times

This weeks Song of the Week is Highway 101(never let go).
The song came about when I first arrived in Los Angeles and it's very country. There was a lot of that around me then.
It was recorded on ADAT and the MIDI was recorded on Notator.
I'm playing and singing all the parts...I guess it's another infatuation song?

This week George Martin is conducting a Beatle Show at the Hollywood Bowl.
I just found out about it and I hope to be able to go.
I don't know what the format is but I hope they play some of the songs we did in London in the 80's at the Barbican. A Day In the Life was incredible with a 90 piece orchestra!

We're close to finishing the overdubs for the Emily Richards album.
I expect to begin mixing this week and finish the first week in July. The new songs we've done in Pro Tools are sounding very good and the ones we started on ADAT are benefiting from the move to 24 bit.
Emily and her band, Sofa Wide are playing in Los Angeles this weekend...

I wanted to remind you again to check out Davinci at MP3.com and if you haven't heard them yet, the 2 songs from my album that are over there for your downloading pleasure.

The sgraggly lot above shot 61 today at Malibu Country Club in the 4th annual Mix LA Open.
We were the guests of Jeremy Stappard and Sony Pro Audio and we finished 3rd, even with the penalty shot we mysteriously recieved for playing from the wrong fairway.
You might ask how that is possible to be penalised one shot for playing from the wrong fairway?
Answer - every hole has a small low fence with red balls on the posts. If you hit into another fairway you have to drop the ball back into you own and charge yourself a stroke.
It's a ridiculous local rule and one that I'm very surprised the USGA allows.
How can the rules force you to play a shot? Anywhere?
I'll be writing to the club secretary about it!
Jeremy also won the longest putt trophy when he sunk a 30 footer for our first of 2 eagles.
59 won the tournament which had a great turnout from the recording industry in support of the House Ear Institutes - Hearing is Priceless (HIP) campaign. Super Star Engineer Producer Ed Cherney is the Honorary Chairman of the tournament...
