In 1997 John worked with Producer Rick Hahn on the debut Bluezeum album Portrait of a Groove which featured the acid jazz single Can I Get That Funk which JJ re-mixed with Rick.

John composed and recorded the blues rock score for the Larry Lipton short festival film "The Luckiest Man Alive" featuring JJ on "blues" guitar as well as the other instruments.

During 1997 JJ completed a long over due Solo Album, which was released in September 1998 on Iron Records and distributed by BMG.

The album contains John's own compositions performed with the help of Steve Ferrone, Michael Thompson, Stuart Breed and other friends.
The single and video of State of Mind were well recieved on radio and TV and reached #1 on the MP3.com Pop chart for many weeks in 1998 & 1999.
A second Video for Turning Me Inside Out was never released...

Earlier in 1998 JJ composed and produced the musical score for the Neil Grieve film, Stuart Bliss.
An entrant in many Independent Film Festivals and Best of Show winner at the Northhampton Festival, the movie has been compared to an episode of the Twilight Zone and includes songs from John's solo album as well as a wide variety of incidental music composed and produced by him for the film.

In 1998 John began working with Emily Richards on tracks that became the You Give album which was released at the end of 1999.
The album has spawned many #1 hits on MP3.com making Emily the number 1 female artist on MP3.com for many years.

John edited and compiled the Dan Hill greatest hits package released in late 1999.

JJ produced the Jamie Skylar single Crazy, released in January 2000.

In the continuing quest for the Lost Tapes of Fleetwood Mick, 1999-2000 saw JJ mixing 5 albums worth of recordings from around the world which are expected to be released in surround sound, DVD Audio format sometime in the future.

John also produced an instrumental recording of These Strange Times with Mick which is now playing on an airliner near you.
