As the 80s drew to a close, so did AIRs Studio 5. Computer music through MIDI had finally reached the home of the recording artist. John was busy programming, engineering and performing with Duran Duran who were making their "Liberty" album with producer Chris Kimsey, while AIR were moving to new premises in Hampstead.

Studios in Barnes.
During the Liberty sessions,
Duran Duran released their "Decade" LP of greatest Hits. To accompany
the album, John produced the single "Burning the Ground".
The track was a club hit and was noted for being made up entirely of samples taken from the
bands hits through the 1980's.
With all the experience gained over the decade, including a large part of Liberty having been recorded in the band's warehouse in Wandsworth, John set up a home studio in Battersea with Duran Duran guitarist Warren Cuccurullo, and embarked on the production of their "Wedding Album", Duran Duran.
John produced, engineered & performed on one of the best albums of
the 90's, and one which was recorded almost entirely in Warren's living room.

The albums success with the hits Ordinary World and Come Undone re-established Duran Duran for the 90's and went on to be the band's biggest selling album.
Around the Duran sessions John worked on a variety of other projects including "Songs for Drella", a tribute to Andy Warhol with John Cale & Lou Reed.
It was during the autumn of 1992, through the spring of 1993 that John re-started his passion for songwriting.
He wrote over 100 songs and recorded demo's of most of them while working sporadically with Duran Duran on the beginnings of their cover album and producing club dance records with DJ "Mark Dwyer".
