From Rational Youth’s #1 Song; Bang On, from 1985, to the first “million downloaded song on the internet,” by Emily Richards in 2000, John Jones has produced, co-produced, engineered, programmed, mixed, performed, written, and or, made tea for, some very important people.
This was a Live Internet Broadcast from netthistv.com‘s studio, recorded March 29, 2000, of John Jones and the Minstrels, performing songs from the album, One Moment in Time
On that rainy night in Burbank, the Minstrels were, Richard Martinez (djembe), Sean Halley (guitar, vocal), and Christoph Bull (accordion, vocal). Steve Ferrone was expected to play percussion, but couldn’t find a parking spot, and missed the show!
Richard, Sean, and myself, had played a couple of the songs at the Troubador, a few months earlier. For this show we were joined by Christoph.
Big Thanks to Kevin and Rob Carmony for the video!

The State of Mind video was filmed in Toronto in June, 1997, and produced by my brother, the late Philip “Pip” Mellows, and his Players Film Company.
Neil Grieve did the final editing in Culver City.
I was filmed on the roof of the old Edge Hotel, playing a guitar I rented from Long & McQuade. The video was shot at various sites around downtown Toronto. During the editing, Neil added some snaps of Beverly Hills.
I wrote State of Mind in August 1992, during the destruction of Iraq. How can anybody live life in a war zone?
The demo was recorded in England in 1992, and in 1996 we overdubbed Richard, and Steve (recorded by Stuart), Michael (at his studio), and then Stuart mixed it at Music Grinder in Hollywood.
State of Mind, written by John Jones.
