Last week I went to the ASCAP Expo in Hollywood, where old and new friends abound!
I managed to steal a minute with Eddie Schwartz, who I know from Toronto. We first met when we were teenagers, both writing for Val Azzoli at ATV Music. Then Eddie wrote Hit Me With Your Best Shot! I built a studio…
For decades Eddie has been a tireless worker for songwriters rights. He joined a panel with songwriter Desmond Child and spoke about Fair Trade Music; , which connects musicians, venues, and fans to promote a healthy music business—one that pays musicians fair wages.

Toys for big boys were in abundance when we recently visited Flightdeck in Newmarket.

These machines are used in conjunction with Computer Flight simulator software to train pilots and to enhance the homes of wealthly enthusiasts around the globe. I must admit, I never thought that people would want the cockpit of a 747 in their living room, but apparently they do!

The big machines are $150,000 and up, but Flightdeck also make the beautiful Jetmax, at $15,000, that I would definitely have in my house!

Sadly, the golf course and country club have been gone since the new Forum replaced it in the 1960’s! Despite disappearing for a few years, the newly remodeled Forum is back with a vengeance, and is undoubtedly the best indoor stadium venue for a rock concert in the Greater Los Angles area!
And Fleetwood Mac gave a monumental performance!

After meeting Simon Phillips and Billie Rainbird at NAMM in Anaheim back in February, I finally visited Simon’s Phantom Recording Studio and was treated to some great music and a happening atmosphere to create, especially if Simon has time to be involved! He has been writing and producing and is still one of the legends of music!
To quote Wikipedia; “He is also a prolific session drummer, and has played for Jeff Beck, The Who, Judas Priest, Tears for Fears, Mike Oldfield, and Gary Moore, among others.”
